Wedding flowers in November NZ has to be the BEST time to get married. This is peak spring heading into early summer, which means variety, colour and some of the most iconic wedding flowers of the year are at their absolute best. If you’re getting married in November, you’re spoiled for choice, and it’s one of my favourite months to design flowers for weddings.
Here are our top picks for November wedding flowers, starting with the undisputed queen.

Peonies
Peonies are the number one wedding flower for November, no contest.
They are lush, romantic, dramatic and completely unforgettable. Their big, pillowy blooms open beautifully and create that soft, luxurious look couples dream of. From classic blush and white through to coral and burgundy tones, peonies give instant chic to bouquets and arrangements.
November is one of the most reliable months for peonies in New Zealand, which is why they’re such a popular choice. They work beautifully on their own for a statement bouquet or paired with roses, hydrangeas and gypsophila for a full romantic look. If peonies are on your wish list, November is absolutely your moment.

Hydrangeas
Hydrangeas are another standout for November weddings and are so popular in weddings. They’re lush, generous and incredibly versatile. Whether you’re after soft pastels, fresh whites, or brighter pops of colour, hydrangeas deliver volume and impact without feeling heavy.
They’re perfect for large installations, ceremony backdrops, table arrangements and even bouquets when you want that full, abundant look. Antique hydrangeas are especially beautiful for weddings, with their muted, dusty tones that photograph so well.
Roses
Roses remain a wedding staple in November, and for good reason. Garden roses bring that soft, ruffled romance everyone loves, while spray roses add texture and detail with their smaller clustered blooms. Roses offer a great range of colours – just about every colour in the ‘bow!
They anchor designs beautifully and pair effortlessly with peonies, hydrangeas and gypsophila, making them one of the most reliable flowers we work with.
Gypsophila (Baby’s Breath)
Gypsophila, or baby’s breath, continues to be hugely popular for spring and summer weddings. It’s light, airy and incredibly versatile. We love using it in cloud-like installations, soft meadow-style arrangements or woven delicately through bouquets to add movement and softness. It’s also stunning tinted in subtle pastel shades or used en masse for a modern, romantic look.
Poppies
Poppies are such a vibe for November weddings. They’re delicate, fluttery and full of personality, with paper-thin petals that move beautifully. Poppies bring a relaxed, slightly wild feel and are perfect for couples who love a natural, seasonal look. They work best in loose bouquets and garden-style arrangements, paired with roses, peonies and gypsophila.
Sunflowers
Sunflowers bring instant joy! They’re bold, happy and full of personality, making them perfect for relaxed weddings, outdoor celebrations or couples who want something a little less traditional. Used thoughtfully, sunflowers can feel modern and stylish rather than rustic. A super affordable flowers when they’re in peak season, so if you’re on a budget then this is definitely a flower to consider. They’re especially beautiful mixed with softer flowers like roses or hydrangeas to balance their boldness.
Leucospermum (Pincushion)
Leucospermum, often called pincushion protea, adds incredible texture to November wedding flowers. They’re bold, architectural and bring a slightly exotic feel. Their warm tones work beautifully in modern or earthy colour palettes and pair well with tropicals and unique foliage. They’re a great choice if you want your bouquets to feel interesting and a little unexpected.
Viburnum Snowball
Viburnum snowball is such an underrated spring flower. It’s fresh, fluffy and beautifully textural, with soft green-to-white spherical blooms. Viburnum adds volume without heaviness and works perfectly in bouquets, table arrangements and large installations. It’s especially lovely paired with peonies and roses for a soft, garden-inspired look.
November wedding flowers are all about abundance, softness and variety. It’s a month where romantic classics meet playful spring blooms, and the result is always stunning.
